Yes! You will feel something new on your tooth, but after a few days you will get used to the feeling.
Tooth gems can last anywhere between 6 weeks to 1 year and will often fall naturally at the end of their lifecycle. The longevity of tooth gems depends entirely on the individual. The natural acidity of your saliva and diet will affect how long it lasts. This also depends on your at home care, the size of the gem, and placement on the tooth.
**If gems fall off within the first 3 weeks after application, we will replace them at no charge.
They are meant to fall off naturally. We do not offer tooth gem removal. They may be removed at any time by your dentist or dental hygienist.
Depending on the complexity of the design, your appointment could take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour from start to finish.
Dont worry, Ill make sure youre taken care of! We will not be reusing that tooth gem, so dont worry about saving it. There will not be any damage to you or your tooth, even if you accidently swallowed it.
The first thing to do is feel your tooth with your tongue or finger. Does it feel smooth or textured?
If the tooth feels like your other teeth, we can apply a new tooth gem in its place!
If the tooth feels textured that means there is still dental composite on the tooth. The remaining composite must be removed by your dentist and can even be done during a regular cleaning appointment. Do not try to remove the remaining composite yourself as this could damage your enamel. once your dentist has cleaned and polished your tooth, you are ready for a new tooth gem!
Yes! You can and should brush any teeth that have tooth gems applied. Great dental hygiene is the key to a long-lasting tooth gem. I recommend brushing with a soft-bristle toothbrush.
